Why You Should Join HFA
We are
Humanists!
Are you?
Why you
should join the Humanists of Florida Association
If you agree
with the basic principles of Humanism - reason and compassion in
action - and the goals of the Humanists of Florida Association (HFA),
your membership is important. HFA promotes freedom and democracy by
using reason and science to create a more compassionate society.
Your membership is vital for you and for your community. By joining
the HFA, you are participating in a statewide effort to speak with
one voice on some of the most important issues we face today. We
invite you to join that effort by becoming a member of HFA.
Humanist
principles are attractive to many people who never considered
themselves Humanists, yet we cannot reach them without a vigorous,
statewide effort. That is why your membership is so important.
Reasons to
support HFA with your membership:
-
You seek an
organization that puts reason and compassion into action.
-
You are a
compassionate, altruistic person who is open to new ideas and
information.
-
You prefer
freedom of thought and democracy to theocracy.
-
You want to
live in a progressive society and not a repressive society.
-
You cherish
freedom, open-mindedness and civil rights.
By joining HFA,
you provide financial support to public awareness projects that
encourage reasonable debate and present thoughtful alternatives for
the important issues of the day. As a group, working together, each
of us can accomplish much more than each of us working individually.
Your annual dues of $40 for an individual member or $60 for a joint
membership make all of this possible. For the price of just one
modest dinner, you can have impact on the public debate in Florida
for an entire year.
As an HFA member
you will:
-
Receive
bi-weekly email alerts, keeping you updated on HFA is addressing
critical issues.
-
Receive our
quarterly membership newsletter, highlighting Humanist projects
and activities.
-
Be invited
to meet other Humanists in your local area.
-
Receive our
annual journal of Humanist thought, with articles and essays on
current topics.
-
Be an
important partner in our effort to offer a rational and
compassionate alternative.
-
Be eligible
to vote for and run for leadership positions within the
organization
Most church
members donate an average of $2,500 per year to support their
beliefs and values. If Humanists made similar pledges to support
their beliefs and values, imagine what we could accomplish. Your
modest investment in an HFA membership will make a difference, both
for you and for your community. After all, if we do not actively
work to promote the Humanist point of view, who will?
